This endoscopic instrument was designed to be a replacement for the client’s existing product. The handle of the original instrument had shown problems during standard cleaning procedures. This had caused the client to re-evaluate the instrument, the market and operating requirements and also the competition’s products. The client decided that the development project should not only cover the cleaning issues but also address a market need for an instrument that allowed the surgeon to change the position of the finger rings to suit his procedure.

Developed by the founder of Isthmus earlier in his career, this pocket sized medication unit is one of the first to address the issue of helping patients manage multiple medication regimens. The unit, programmed by the patient’s physician, alerts the user when it is time to take their medication, it indicates which drugs and in what quantities and methods. It can ask the user questions to determine how the medications are working. All the information is downloaded to the physician on a daily basis so that he can track the patient’s progress.

Each well of this standard deep well microtiter plate has been permanently fitted with a cleverly designed insert. Although the insert allows the laboratory technician to collect and dispense samples via standard needles and Diddy tips; it prevents bumping, cross-contamination and greatly reduces sample evaporation. Isthmus has helped the client develop a number of products based on this patented technology, including a 96 well reaction plate with a 1ml capacity and a glass lined storage plate.
